In a display of community spirit, the mayor of Wilkes-Barre signed proclamation declaring the Lubavitcher Rebbe's birthday as Education and Sharing Day USA, the first time this city has honored the Rebbe's birthday in such a way.

In a display of community spirit, the mayor of Wilkes-Barre signed proclamation declaring the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s birthday as Education and Sharing Day USA. This marks the first time this city has honored the Rebbe’s birthday in such a way.

Rabbi Zali Shifren of Kingston, Pennsylvania, played a pivotal role in arranging these proclamations, just days before the Rebbe’s birthday on the 11th of Nissan. Rabbi Tzvi Perlman, Head Shliach of PA, and Rabbi Pinny Levitin attended the signing ceremony. This annual celebration, recognized nationwide, pays tribute to the Rebbe’s tireless efforts to promote education and moral values.

The Rebbe’s vision for Education and Sharing Day USA began in 1978, when President Jimmy Carter first designated the day in honor of the Rebbe’s 76th birthday. Since then, every U.S. president has continued this tradition, with many states, cities, and counties following suit.

The proclamation signed by the mayor of Wilkes-Barre echo the national theme, encouraging citizens to reach out to young people and work towards creating a brighter future. This initiative embodies the Rebbe’s teachings on the importance of education, kindness, and community service.

As the nation observes Education and Sharing Day USA, communities like Wilkes-Barre are setting an inspiring example. By honoring the Rebbe’s birthday, they are promoting a message of unity, compassion, and intellectual growth.

Rabbi Shifren notes that these proclamations play a significant role in the final redemption, as nations recognize the universal values of the Seven Noahide Laws. By embracing these principles, humanity takes a step towards unity and harmony. The Rebbe’s vision for a world where all people live in accordance with these laws is becoming a reality, one proclamation at a time.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe’s impact on American society is undeniable. His commitment to education and moral values inspires countless individuals, and continues to shape communities across the country.

“Getting this proclamation signed is something within everyone’s reach to accomplish, if you go out there with the Rebbe’s koach!”, Rabbi Shifren adds. “Reach out today to your local mayor or politician of such stature to call on all citizens to make this Yud alef Nisan a national holiday.”
May we all merit to the final Geulah with the rebbe at our lead!
