Sheikh Samir Assi, Imam of Al Jazaar mosque in the northern Israeli city of Acre, met with Chabad Rabbi Nosson Yitzchok Oirechman and found himself in agreement with him.
A unique meeting took place Wednesday at the Chabad House in Acre (Akko), a city in the Western Galilee region of northern Israel.
Sheikh Samir Assi, Imam of Al Jazaar mosque in the city, met with Rabbi Nosson Yitzchok Oirechman, Rabbi of the local Chabad community.
About two-thirds of Acre’s population is Jewish, and Arab citizens of Israel constitute about one-third.
Joining the meeting were Rabbi Yosef Makmel and Rabbi Avraham Harush, directors of Chabad institutions in Acre and a delegation of the Arab community.
“We discussed how we all need to strengthen the faith in the creator of the world in response to disasters and many weather-related events,” one of the participants said.
“The Imam emphasized that the belief in one G-d and the practice of the 7 Noahide Laws is an integral part of religion and faith.”
Participants at the meeting, COLlive.com was told, agreed on plans to add more charitable work in the city like visiting the sick, feeding the poor and rewarding students who excel in their learning.
I get the impression that Sheikh Samir Assi, the Imam of Acre's Al-Jazzar Mosque is not held in high regard by the Ummah.
