In response to Covid-19, UN and Chabad connected Rabbi starts WhatsApp Noahide conversion group

According to his Chabad profile "Tzvi Freeman, a senior editor at Chabad. org, is also author of several books, including Wisdom to Heal the Earth. He writes Chabad.org's highly popular Daily Dose of Wisdom" (here). He has also written articles for the United Nation's Institute for Noahide Code (here), an organization which lists "decapitation" as a requirement on their website (here). In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Rabbi Freeman has started a new WhatsApp group to evangelize the Noahide Laws.

Novel Campaign Promotes Sheva Mitzvos on Social Media

A unique WhatsApp group for non-Jews has been launched, providing sheva-mitzvos education to a world that needs it now more than ever, with daily guidance from Rabbi Tzvi Freeman and Mrs. Shifra Hendrie.

By Anash.org reporter

With the world in its current state of confusion and turmoil, countless people are wondering where to turn to for answers. Now, more than ever, non-Jews need to be shown their role in the world, through the sheva mitzvos Bnei Noach, and told about the geula about to unfold.

Thanks to the Rebbe’s encouragement, spreading sheva mitzvos has become the norm, but these days, going on mivtzoim is difficult. People tend to stay home more and those who do venture out are not receptive to receiving physical mivtzoim cards, for fear of catching germs.

With the best way of communication today via social media, a special WhatsApp group has been created, devoted exclusively to sheva-mitzvos education for non-Jews. Each day, a short daily dose of information and inspiration by Rabbi Tzvi Freeman is sent out, as well as a spiritually awakening shiur from Mrs. Shifra Hendrie.

The group also shares other material prepared by various shluchim that non-Jews will find meaningful and enable them to work on the sheva mitzvos over time. The forum aims to provide them with a better understanding of Hashem, the purpose of creation and their purpose in this world.

You too can take part in this initiative, by inviting every non-Jew you know to the group. The following is the group description. Feel free to copy and paste it to your non-Jewish contacts:

To many of us the situation of the world is unsettling to say the least. We’ve been thrown for a loop we didn’t see coming.

The world is undergoing a cosmic metamorphosis. The messianic stage is about to emerge. The turbulence is here to wake us up. Will we progress with resistance or with an awareness of the spiritual undercurrents emerging?

Join us on a journey of discovery through secrets of the Torah how to be part of, and accelerate, this process of the birth of the new reality about to unfold; one of pure goodness for all of humanity.

Perhaps this is the final mission we have been entrusted us with, in order to finally bring the complete geula

Maimonides say Jews are "commanded" to "compel" "all of the world" to follow the Noahide Laws

“Moses our Teacher was commanded by the Almighty to compel the world to accept the Commandments of the Sons of Noah. Anyone who fails to accept them is executed.” – (Mishneh Torah (Rambam), Laws of Kings and Wars, 8.13)
I addressed this topic before in my article on the Chief Rabbinate's blessing on a book called  "The Divine Code" which suggests non-Jews who do not follow the Noahide Laws should be killed (here) but I want to add this article to prove my analysis was right. When talking about Noahide Law, sometimes Jews will try to tell you that the Noahide Laws are only mandatory inside the land of Israel. They will quote Maimonides "Laws of Kings and Wars" 8.11 which states that all non-Jews under "Jewish jurisdiction" are under the Noahide Laws, they say this means only inside the land of Israel. However, if we read only two passages down in Maimonidies in 8.13, we see that this command to "compel" non-Jews to follow the Noahide Laws applies to the "world". In this article in the Jewish Press, Rabbi Simon Jacobson states pointedly that the Noahide Laws "command" Jews to "compel/inspire all the inhabitants of the world to accept the commandments given to Noah’s descendants”. As for Jewish jurisdiction, the Talmud says the Jewish Sanhedrin (highest legal Jewish court) has "jurisdiction" both inside and outside the land of "Palestine" (here) and Rabbi Schneerson who is raised to the position of "leader" of world Jewry in Public Laws 101-267 (here) and 101-15 (here) said there is not even any need to have a Sanhedrin to "force" Noahide Law on the world (here). However you will notice Noahides rarely if every use this argument because they want to implement the Noahide Laws outside of Israel with Jewish oversight and so they don't allow being safe (not angering the non-Jews) to get in the way of their zealousness.

Is It Proper…? What should one do if one hears about persecution of a people in a foreign land?
By Jewish Press Staff

Years ago, an earnest young woman from my shul asked me to announce a forthcoming rally to protest the horrific genocide in Darfur. When I asked her what the purpose of the rally was, she said, “To raise awareness.”

“And having raised awareness,” I asked, “what is the next step? Do you support the deployment of American troops to halt the massacres?”

She answered: “Absolutely not. I don’t want U.S. troops deployed anywhere in the world.”

“So,” I continued, “having raised awareness, what do you hope to accomplish? What are your policy goals?”

“None yet,” she answered.

To which I responded, “When you figure out what you want to do, I’ll be happy to endorse the rally.”

The suffering of innocents across the world is often accompanied by a barrage of clichés, platitudes, and bromides, some designed to assuage the consciences of the protesters, others intended as mere virtue-signaling, but little that actually thwarts evil and liberates the persecuted.

The rasha has a distinct advantage as those who aspire to goodness cannot fight injustice across the globe. Words cannot save the victims, but sometimes they can redeem our humanity. I know of no effective measures to fight evil other than the application of overwhelming military force against the perpetrators. We should support that use of force.

That’s not to say that the United States has the obligation to intervene everywhere, but we should be mindful of how hollow our criticism is of those who did not rescue Jews during the Holocaust if we ourselves do not support the rescue of other endangered peoples.

The least we can do is daven for them and remind ourselves that “chaviv adam she’nivra b’tzelem.” All mankind is precious as we were all created in the image of G-d. We can care, grieve, speak out, refuse to relegate these stories to the “way of the world,” raise money, and demand protective action and punishment for the perpetrators.

We should feel bad about all persecution. G-d is described as chanun in Shemot 34:6, which is interpreted by many (see the gloss to Tosafot on Rosh Hashanah 17b) to mean that He responds to those who cry out in distress, regardless of merit. Jews, who are commanded to walk in G-d’s ways, therefore should also respond to cries of distress.

The problem is that an individual often can do little to help directly. Is a demonstration effective enough that a person is obligated to attend one? Or many of them? Should he write letters? I don’t think there are clear or obvious guidelines.

For an individual or a country with the wherewithal to do something meaningful, difficult questions arise. Shulchan Aruch (Yoreh De’ah 252:1) says no mitzvah equals pidyon shevuyim, which includes people being persecuted in a place they cannot leave. Yet, this obligation is not limitless, nor is always acting necessarily chanun – at some point, G-d also ignores the pleas of the meritless or culpable.

Non-Jews are not family, which mitigates the immediacy of the obligation to help. On the other hand, helping them avoids evah (hatred) we would incur if they thought Jews only care about other Jews.

It also fosters shalom, even friendship, and creates a kiddush Hashem, a model of how servants of G-d act, redounding to the credit of the Jewish people and of service of G-d. If the help comes from the State of Israel, it raises the State’s international standing, another value.

So what to do? As much as one can, one should maximize the various values – to be chanun, redeem captives, stave off evah, create shalom, make a kiddush Hashem, and improve the political standing of Jews or the State of Israel – depending on the situation.

As human beings, and especially as Jews, we are charged not only to take care of our own communities but to help bring virtue and morality to the entire world.

The Rambam rules that “Moses was commanded by the Almighty to compel/inspire all the inhabitants of the world to accept the commandments given to Noah’s descendants” (Laws of Kings, ch. 8). The essential theme of the Seven Noahide Laws is living a moral and ethical life and building a world based on respect of G-d, life, property, relationships, and justice.

In this spirit, it is quite clear that when we hear about persecution of a people or individuals anywhere, we must do whatever we can to bring awareness to the problem and encourage those who can intervene to help remedy the situation.

Obviously, each one of us has a different capacity in addressing injustice. For example, a government official or community leader may have more ability to directly address persecution. Yet, every one of us has to be sensitive and do whatever is in our power to oppose discord and hatred and bring peace and kindness to the world’s population.

Persecution even in one corner of the globe compromises the entire world. Every form of injustice, even of one group or one individual, defies the Divine plan and objective to build a world of peace and harmony.

We must do all we can to help bring the world to a state when “there will be neither famine nor war, envy or competition, for good will flow in abundance… The occupation of the entire world will be solely to know G-d…a world filled with Divine knowledge as the waters cover the sea” – the era of Moshiach (Rambam, ibid., ch. 12).

US government sponsored group says Biblical anti-suicide sentiments come from Noahide Law

The Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) is an interfaith initiative which is supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) under Grant No. 1 U79 SM57392-04. While the government states "the opinions, conclusions, and recommendations expressed are those of the authors and SPRC and do not necessarily reflect the views of SAMHSA, CMHS, or any of the reviewers", still, according to the SPRC, the basis of biblical anti-suicide laws come from the Noahide Laws; they are trying to claim everything. Noahidists have also taken aim at euthanasia rights (here).

QUOTE

Judaism teaches that how we are born and how we die are in God’s hands. Life belongs to God, not to the individual, and it is a gift to be treasured. The Biblical basis for the injunction against suicide has been derived from the Noahide laws: “For your lifeblood too, I will require a reckoning.”

Newton believed Noahide Law was based on natural science and mathematics

I have written much about Isaac Newton's fascination and even acceptance of the Noahide Laws on this blog (here, here, here & here). Now I have found that Newton believed the Noahide Laws were based on natural science and mathematics. I think it is time to admit that Newton was a Noahide proper.

QUOTE

One salient aspect of the Noachide creed, according to Newton, is its emphasis on the intimate connections between theology and natural philosophy.55 Newton maintains that “there is no way (with out revelation) to come to ye knowledge of a Deity but by the frame of nature.”...

...Notably both Milton and Newton believe that, for the fit but few, mathematics provides access to the original synthesis between theology and natural philosophy instilled in (or restored by) the Noachide Code. Newton considers his mathematical discoveries instrumental to regaining an original, uncorrupted insight into divine providence and pure knowledge of God as the God of Dominion. For Newton, by calculating fluxions and fluents, we momentarily can reverse the adverse impact of sin and corruption, especially idolatry, on our powers of perception so that we can recognize the difference between nature in its present corruption and nature in its pure, original framework...

...Just as mathematics sharpens our ability to recognize the fluent crosscurrents among past, present, and future in a typological reading of history, so interpreting poetic metaphors, similes, and symbols enhances our appreciation of the providential significance that typological allegories disclose. At the end of book 11 of Paradise Lost, Adam recognizes that the rainbow not only is a rainbow (a literal reading) but also a prophetic symbol, poetic allegory, or type, of God’s new covenant with his people. Adam’s insight accompanies God’s revival of true religion as the Noachide Code after the Flood. Newton similarly emphasizes that typological allegory is the key to understanding prophetic scriptural texts, such as the Book of Daniel and Revelation. In Theologiae Gentiles Origines Philosophicae, Newton writes that the sacred way to interpret philosophy is “per typos et aenigmata,” or “through types and enigmas...

...These same calculations also afford insight into the corrupting, sensual influence of idolatry, which leads us away from the simpleand-pure tenets of the Noachide Code...

Noahide brainwashing of children in Birmingham England schools, Noahide is a "command", warns against anti-semitism caused by Noahide education

As early as 2007 the Birmingham England City Council adopted the teaching of the Noahide Laws into the education system. The Noahide Laws are taught to be a "command" and a road to salvation, and the school system is seeking to garner sympathy for the Jews and Noahide in this regard by stating that because the Jews are called to educate the people on these laws, that this will cause anti-Semitism... of course it will!

The Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2007

Whilst the first Jew was the Biblical Abraham, Judaism draws its authority from an act of Divine Revelation on Mount Sinai, before a multitude of people. It was an awesome descent of Spirituality into the material world. The Divine communicated through Moses the written Law, the Torah (The first five books of the Hebrew Scriptures), and the oral Law. This oral law was later partly written down in the important books of the Mishnah, Talmud and Midrash. A system of 613 commandments was specifically charged upon Jews. A system of 7 commandments, also known as the 7 Noahide Laws, was given to the whole of mankind. Compliance with these codes fulfils the Divine Will and affords a unique opportunity for the commanded (the people) to bond with the Commander (The Divine) through the command (Law). The reward for obedience to these two systems of Law is the same, a share in the spiritual World to Come. Judaism, therefore, does not seek conversions to Judaism but encourages others in a lifestyle that is in tune with the dictates of the 7 Noahide Laws. Jews, themselves, are required to be 'a light to the nations'. This has often placed them in a controversial role, which may become a key element contributing to anti-semitism.

There were Noahides in the Roman Empire

According to this article in MgGill University's Radix newsletter, there were Noahides in ancient Rome who worshipped in Jewish synagogues

It all began with Logic. The story goes that one day little Abraham sat alone meditating, pondering his existence. This whole idolatry thing bothered him. Worshipping trees and the like as all the "grownups" did, just didn't seem to make any sense. How could one attribute any real power to something whose entire existence is essentially at the mercy of Man? In- deed, no man was immortal either, as far as Abraham could tell, so there must be something even higher still. What gives life? What gives existence to the tree, the rocks, the stars, the moon, the sun? What Being, what Force, is Man at the mercy of?

Sometimes, it takes the simplicity of a child to uncover those things that, although they are so obvious, too often become obscured and for- gotten beneath the sophisticated convolutions of the "adult" world. While he was born and bred into one of the top pagan idol- worshipping families of his time, at the tender age of three, Abraham, the founding father of the Jewish nation, realized that there is only One G-d

While we must not for a moment underestimate how radical this idea was at the time, Abraham was not the first monotheist, nor was he the only one of his day. Jewish texts record that after having discovered this incredible reality, Abraham went to study in an academy de- signed specifically for and by people who shared this great insight. This school was one of several institutes, collectively referred to as the "Academies of Shem and Ever", after the historical Noah's son and grandson, respec- tively. The material taught was actually a col- laboration of teachings, whose roots could be traced back all the way to the very first man and woman on Earth: Adam and Eve. Besides learning about the nature of G-d, Man and the World, the students at these academies studied a certain group of laws extensively. These precepts, upon which many later civilizations and legal systems were based, had been passed down from generation to generation, to a select group of descendents of Noah. It was Noah who had renewed a certain covenant that G-d had made with Adam and Eve, with a few mi- nor addendums. The purpose of the arrange- ment was to actualize the Creator's Master Plan, namely, the construction of a dwelling place for G-d here in the lower realms, through man's strict adherence to G-d's instructions. These Divine directives can be grouped into seven basic categories, and are referred to throughout Jewish texts as the Seven Laws of Noah. Those who obediently follow this code are called by the name Bnei Noah, or in Eng- lish, "Children of Noah". Modern times have given way to the anglicized term Noahide.

Evidence of the perpetuation of the Noahide Creed throughout history, while scant, is not entirely absent. Archaeological findings, as well as Jewish and Christian sources, indicate that in the time of the Roman Empire, there was a group of individuals, known as "G- dfearers" who, being neither Jewish nor pagan, would pray and offer sacrifices in the Jewish Temple. A more contemporary ex- ample is a Frenchman named Aime Palliere who in the 19 th century abandoned his Ro- man Catholic upbringing in favor of the Noa- hide way of life. Recently, beginning in the early 1980's, small Noahide communities began emerging in literally all corners of the globe. Since then the movement has grown considerably, and its members are said to number in the thousands. A modest figure, perhaps, but it is witnessing exponential growth. Most Noahides are ex-Christians, and some of the larger and more active com- munities can be found in such areas as Texas or Tennessee the buckles of the US Bible Belt.

This summer a friend and I, together with a digital video camera, traveled to Texas to observe and interview some of these Noa- hides. Our findings were indeed incredible and in my opinion, if I may be so blunt, mes- sianic. Biblical prophets speak of a time when there will arise a hunger, a thirst not for bread or water, but rather to hear and learn the word of G-d. It is my feeling that the emerging Noahide movement is part of a collective awakening of an inner call to Truth. The Jewish tradition does not hold that one must convert to Judaism in order to be considered righteous in the eyes of the L- rd. Every individual may worship The Crea- tor as The Creator formed him or her. The main point is to live with an awareness of the One, and to follow in the path of the One Jews through observing their command- ments, and the rest of humanity through ad- herence to the Seven Laws. While still not widely recognized as being one of the world's major religions, in examining Noahidism, we might bear in mind that it is the only existent faith system whose claims go back to the very beginning of creation.

Australian government accepts and posts submission declaring Christianity and Islam as "noahide religions"

The Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's Panel on Religious Freedom accepted a submission by Geral Flood which states the Islam and Christianity are Noahide religions. There has been a long time attempt to get Muslims to agree to the Noahide Laws (here & here) as well as Chrsistianty (here, here, here & here) and Noahide advocates are also attempting to induct Christians through the shituf deception (here) and the eventual rejection of the trinity (here). The Australian government took this submission seriously enough to post it up on their website.

The fairness and honesty of Australia's judicial system need equal, fair and just treatment for all. Laws which coerce - unfairly in the eyes of the reasonably-minded victim - the citizen to lie in order to protect their home and family will tend to erode the citizen's respect for the telling of truth in sworn legal statements, which will exacerbate the current degradation of Australian judicial proceedings.

The rapid growth of unprosecuted perjury in Australia is a publicly recognised and serious threat to the fundamental soundness of the judicial system, which latter is a foremost governmental responsibility. This is evidenced by the volume of deliberate false affidavits and other sworn statements, many at the instigation of officers of court, and suspected or identified incidents not even subjected to any proper scrutiny.

Bearing in mind :
A. the essential role that employment widely plays in the ability of the citizen to exercise their fundamental and universal right to found a home and family, and

B. the force being applied by employer entities in many sectors on employees to overtly support a partisan view in favour of "same sex marriage", or to self-censor into silence, as publicly explicated by a large array of major corporations, and

C. the approximately 38% of citizens who may be considered to not support the moral or otherwise acceptability of "same sex marriage", as estimated from the recent national plebiscite results,

then:

it would be extremely imprudent for the standing and reputation of, and respect for, the law and for our judicial system of fairness, particularly the supreme necessity for faithful and conscientious honesty in sworn statements, if employees were to be forcefully coerced to take public positions against their own firmly held positions, to avoid illicit prejudice, adverse discipline, demotion, or dismissal.

Such coercion would tend to weaken the essential link between what the citizens privately knows or believes to be true, and what the citizen knows is essential to publicly espouse to protect their family and home. They know that this imposition is a deep injustice inflicted by an empowered but immoral legislature with a disregard for the citizen's right to express truth. In other words, an employment law without protection for them [ie conscientious objectors against publicly supporting "same sex marriage"] would militate against general respect for "telling the truth" in sworn or legal situations.

Clearly, such coercion would tend to erode the integrity of the citizen, who is coerced into choosing whether to protect the integrity of what they believe, say and do, or else to lie to protect the economic viability of the family's welfare.

The facts from case studies of employees coerced in these circumstances are freely available to you.

These cases demand your closest examination, with a view to you reasonably extrapolating how far those authorities and powers may well extend, as time and cases ensue. In disciplinary processes within employment, and also in cases brought under laws, in both processes which seem unfair to a reasonable person, where cases or suits are withdrawn, the costs to the defendant must be considered in fairness.

The ICCPR at Article 18.4 recognises and protects “the liberty of parents … to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions.” Australian parents must remain free to access the services of educational facilities which meet their reasonable requirements, unless Australia is to repudiate de facto its ostensible support for the ICCPR.

The current legislative situation threatens to establish a two-tiered system of freedom of speech in very many and vital, public and semi-public arenas and situations : a citizen's superior right to publicly support "any two adults marriage", and their inferior right to publicly support monogamous heterosexual marriage.

This situation is legally, morally and concretely iniquitous.

Fundamental elements of religious freedom are the legal entitlement to beliefs, responsibilities and behaviours while exercising the normal rights to founding a family and a home. In the Australian legal, political and cultural environment, the freedom of religion, includes the reasonable public expression of universal religious teaching of heterosexual marriage, universal here indicating that it is substantially supported by the three Noahide religions of Christian, Jewish and Muslim, as well as by many other community religions, eg Sikh. It is undeniably a fundamental religious obligation of many such adherents to publicly espouse their beliefs.

The legislature and the judiciary must maintain the equal treatment of the rights of all citizens to equal expression of their beliefs, whether the citizen's beliefs are shared by a considerable number of other citizens, or whether the citizen holds unique religious beliefs.

I urge the Expert Panel on Religious Freedom :
a. to recognise and advocate that religious freedom necessarily overlaps with and is not separate from freedom of speech, and
b. to recognise and advocate for the complete equality of the citizens' rights to act according to their beliefs in all circumstances of civic life, and
c. to recognise and advocate that there must accrue no legal disadvantage to any person or other entity for supporting in manifold ways the exclusive status of monogamous heterosexual marriage.

The current situation will probably result in a viable High Court challenge to the consequential unconstitutionality of restrictions on a citizen's right to freedom of political communication, unless the Parliament provides prudent and appropriate legislation to obviate the unfair, onerous and wasteful exercise of such a High Court action.

Alternatively, if the Australian governing system legally allows for the muzzling and censoring of the citizen from publicly espousing the exclusive importance of monogamous heterosexual marriage, while protecting an alternative opinion, then the citizens' respect for the fairness and utility of the Australian governing system may well suffer.

I urge the Panel to defend the right of every citizen to effectively espouse their beliefs, subject only to the established norms of non-violence.

Gerard Flood.
